LOS ANGELES, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Police seized over 550 firearms from the homes of a felon and his female associate in Agua Dulce, a town about 75 km north of Los Angeles downtown, local authorities said Monday.
Police Thursday searched the home of 60-year-old Manuel Fernandez on receiving a tip-off, which led to a further search of the nearby residence of the woman, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
It was followed by yet another search of Fernandez's home Friday. The searches yielded 553 firearms, as well as computers, cellphones and hard drives suspected to have been used in buying the weapons illegally.
The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is tracing the weapons' origins while detectives are working with the district attorney to look for Fernandez's female associate, who has not returned home.
Fernandez was arrested Thursday, and charged with felonious possession of firearms.
